Count words, characters, sentences, and paragraphs in real time. Estimate reading time and analyze keyword density to optimize your writing for clarity.
The Word Counter tool provides instant, detailed statistics about any block of text you paste or type. Beyond a simple word tally, it breaks down character counts (with and without spaces), sentence and paragraph totals, estimated reading and speaking time, and a keyword density table that shows how often each word appears as a percentage of the total. Whether you're polishing a blog post to meet a word-count target, trimming a meta description to the recommended length, or checking academic writing limits, this tool gives you every metric you need in one place—no sign-up required.
QHow is reading time calculated?
Reading time is estimated using an average adult reading speed of 238 words per minute (wpm). The result is rounded to the nearest half-minute for practical use.
QDoes the counter include punctuation in the character count?
Yes. The total character count includes punctuation, spaces, and all other visible characters. A separate 'characters without spaces' metric is also shown.
QWhat counts as a sentence?
Sentences are detected by terminal punctuation marks: periods, exclamation marks, and question marks. Abbreviations may occasionally cause slight over-counting.
QIs the text I paste stored anywhere?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your text is never sent to any server.
